No one can stop aging process. It is a natural phenomenon that all living beings are born, grow and ultimately age with time. However, you can take certain vital decisions, which will keep you healthy as you age. 

  • Be Active : Just keep moving, do not be stagnant. Keep yourself physically fit. Find an activity, which you relish like walking, dancing, swimming, basketball. This will keep you in high spirits. By doing such physical activity your heart rate will be raised, your lungs will be healthy and make your muscles stronger.
  • Eat right : As you age, the body demands you to be more disciplined when it comes to diet. You need to make sure that you not only eat correct but also eat at particular time slots. Do not skip meals, as this will only invite more hunger later on resulting in overeating. Include lots of vegetables and fruits in your diet and remove all junk foods from your diet plan. Eating natural products like vegetables and fruits has numerous advantages including warding off heart disease and strokes. This also helps in controlling high blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
  • Manage time and stress : As you age, take life bit easy and do not let daily pressures to get better of you. While stress is totally unavoidable, it can be effectively managed and controlled. Regular exercise and healthy eating contributes in controlling stress. Focus on the brighter or positive things of life. Do not bottle up inside any grief or sadness. Share it with your loved ones. Accept the fact that death is a certainity. Remember all the good times you had with the departed loved one, which will make you inwardly happy. Make a habit to think positive regardless of the situation around you. 
  • Periodical Check up : Visit your family doctor often. Do not ignore the advice of your physician to do periodical tests even if you find yourself healthy. It is advisable to know your blood pressure readings and cholesterol levels.  Do not panic for any detection of disease. Most of the diseases are curable if detected early.
  • Adequate Sleep :  With aging, your body needs to be more relaxed. Have adequate and peaceful sleep.  Stay away from excessive alcohol, ciggarattes or caffine products, which has an adverse effect on sleep.
  • Socialise: Working with like minded groups always brings freshness. No one understands you better than your loved ones and close friends. Form  core group of your friends and involve in various activities like walking, sharing or plan a vacation together.

Aging is not a disease. Every one has to go through this phase. The only difference is attitude. If you manage to stare age point blank at its face, aging will feel powerless against you. Learn to accept aging as a fact of life and be cheerful.
